Downloading apps and the apple ID
- You must have an apple ID in order to download free or purchased apps, music, or iBooks for personal use
- Personal use allows you to download free or purchased apps for all devices you own
- Your district may choose to allow you to use your personal apple ID to test and use apps on a single work issued iPad. Check first - this is a grey area
- You should use a school issued apple ID for downloading and syncing FREE apps, music, ibooks to all staff shared and student iPads (See this post)
- You Must use the Apple Volume Purchase Program (VPP) to purchase any paid apps, music, or iBooks and purchase a licenses for every device the purchased app will be installed on.
- A district representative must create an account for the VPP
- Apps must be purchased through the VPP app store (not iTunes)
- VPP allows schools to make tax exempt purchases and get volume discounts
